KSHSAA sites set for wrestling regional meets
The Kansas State High School Activities Association has announced sites for regional wrestling tournaments in mid-February.
Basehor-Linwood has been placed in a 4A Regional at Holton, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 16-17. Other teams participating are: Atchison, Clay Center, Concordia, Hiawatha, Lansing, Marsyville, Maur Hill Prep, Perry-Lecompton, Piper, Sumner Academy, Tonganoxie, Topeka Hayden and Wamego.
Bonner Springs will travel to Topeka for a 5A Regional at Topeka Seaman, Saturday, Feb. 17. Other teams participating are: Highland Park, Schlagle, Shawnee Heights, Topeka West, Washington and Wyandotte.
As for other Kaw Valley League teams, Santa Fe Trail, DeSoto and Mill Valley will compete in a 4A Regional at Anderson County in Garnett. DeSoto and Mill Valley are wrestling as one team during the year until the postseason. Immaculata will compete in a 3-2-1A Regional at Silver Lake.
In the Huron League, Turner will be in a 5A Regional at Paola and Bishop Ward and Ottawa will go to the 4A Regional at Anderson County.
The top four wrestlers in each weight class will advance to state competition, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 23-24. The 6A, 5A and 4A tournaments will be at the Kansas Coliseum in Wichita, while the 3-2-1A tournament is at Busch-Gross Coliseum in Hays.
