Monticello United Methodist Women hosted a mission study on "Hope for the children of Africa," at the Fellowship Hall March 3. Seventy-five ladies from 15 churches in the Kansas City metro area attended. Rachael Bachenberg conducted the study. It was reported to be a good learning experience. Doris Katherman, Jean Hodson and Johnnie Lee Kueker served a delicious soup and sandwich lunch.

Visitors at the home of Mrs. Lula James on March 2 were Ronald and Clara West and Ronald's sister, Myrna.

Betty Hunter was treated to lunch at the International House of Pancakes in Shawnee March 3 by her daughters Sara Hipsher of DeSoto and Nancy Fulks of Bonner Springs.

Mr. and Mrs. Wendall Elliott and Mr. and Mrs. Elden Lynn dined at the Old Country Buffet in Shawnee on March 1.

Mr. and Mrs. Sid Peacocke, Mr. and Mrs. David Peacocke and Ryan of Topeka, and Mrs. Dorothy Woolf of Bonner Springs dined at the Sweet Tomato in Lenexa on March 4.

Visitors at the home of Mrs. Lula James on March 4 were Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Haynes and family of DeSoto.

Doris Katherman, Ruth Lynn, Dorothy Kincaid, Shirley Lucas, and Jean Hodson dined at First Watch in Shawnee on March 4 after church.

Mrs. Shirley Lucas and Mrs. Jean Vogt lunched at La Pepe in Shawnee March 6.

Mr. and Mrs. Scott Hunter Jr. and sons were dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Betty Hunter on March 4 in honor of Scott's birthday. Many happy returns, Scott!

The Monticello U.M.W. needlecraft group met at the hall on March 7. Joining for the day were Carolyn Peacocke, Shirley Lucas, Bertha Cameron, Dorothy Kincaid, Lula James, Waverly Williams, Ruth Lynn, Grace Reynolds, Betty Hunter, Johnnie Lee Kueker, Maxine Renner, Isabel Golden and Shirley Nichols. Jim Reynolds, Jay Nichols, Dee Hettinger and Art Howell joined us for lunch. Bulletins were folded, the 2001 project quilt was marked for quilting and Jean Hodson's quilt was quilted on. Mary/Martha circle took place after lunch with 12 ladies attending. Three of the ladies spoke of their workshops attended on Legislative Day in Topeka.

News was received March 7 of the death of a former area resident, John Feilbach, who died in Arizona. The funeral will be at Harrington in Bonner Springs, but there is no time scheduled so far. John grew up and lived in this area till just a few years ago when he went to live with a daughter in Arizona. Our condolences to the family. He will be missed.

Mrs. Ruth Lynn and Mrs. Lynda Anderson of Drexal, Mo., lunched at T.G.I.Fridays in Shawnee on March 5 after shopping.

Mr. and Mrs. Russel Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. Elden Lynn, Mr. Linn Hamblin, and Mrs. Maxine Renner enjoyed lunch at the Ponderosa in Olathe on March 6 before some of them bowled.

The United Methodist Kansas East Conference Committee Board on Pensions held their monthly meeting at the Monticello Fellowship Hall on March 5. Twelve members attended. Dinner was served by church ladies.
