Across the river
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Barth enjoyed a visit from daughter, Mary Canny, from Johnson, Kan., the week of March 11.
Monticello Homemakers Pinochle Club met at the home of Mrs. Waverly Williams on March 8. Guests were Johnnie Lee Kueker, Ruth Lynn, Doris Katherman, Camille Lynn, Margie Lynn, Maxine Renner, Isabel Goldenm Grace Reynolds, June Rush, Lois Flinn, Flossa Barne, and one guest, Tammy Forshay. Johnnie got high prize, Tammy got second and Flossa got low.
Travis Lynn had a birthday, he is now 14! On March 8, John and Teresa Lynn, and Travis and Ruth Lynn helped him celebrate with dinner at Zio's in Olathe. Congratulations, Travis!
Mrs. Camille Lynn was a dinner guest at the home of Mrs. Katherman on March 11.
Mrs. Virginia Broom spent several days in Overland Park Regional Medical Center the week of March 11. She's still there at this writing, undergoing tests. Our prayers are with her.
Mrs. Johnnie Lee Kueker visited Mrs. Helen McMatt on March 13 at the Sterling House in Olathe, finding her in fair condition.
Mrs. Ruth Lynn, Tyler Lynn, and girlfriend Linda were guests at the home of John and Teresa Lynn on March 11 for ice cream and cake, helping Travis Lynn celebrate his 14th birthday again! Way to go Travis! They all played dominoes.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Cockrum and family spent the week of March 18 in Lake Jackson, Texas where they visited Susan's sister, Karla Slaymaker. They were on spring break.
Mrs. Pat Henson had a birthday on March 11. She celebrated with a cookout at the home of daughter Celia Henson. Other guests were Doug, Missy, Andrew and Malorie Brown and Carl Henson. Many happy returns, Pat!
Mrs. Margie Lynn spent several days in Overland Park Regional Medical Center the week of March 11. At present, she is resting and recuperating at home. Our prayers are with her.
The Monticello United Methodist Women needlecraft group met at the Fellowship Hall on March 14. Attending were Doris Katherman, Bertha Cameron, Myrtle Thomas, Shirley Lucas, Shirley Nichols, Isabel Golden, Maxine Renner, Maureen Woolever, Tammy Vognsen, Camille Lynn, Ruth Lynn, Waverly Williams, Lula James, Dorothy Kincaid, Johnnie Lee Kueker and Betty Hunter. Jay Nichols, Jim Reynolds and Art Howell joined us for lunch. The project quilt was put in frames and quilting began. We also quilted on Jean Hodson's quilt. It was a satisfying day.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hettlinger spent their spring break in Austin, Texas, visiting their daughter and son-in-law, Tom and Jessica Franco.
Larry Lynn had a birthday. He celebrated with a party on March 14. Guests were Camille Lynn, Rod and Nelah Dixon, Melonie Lynn and friend, Mark and Diane Lynn, and Maxine Renner. Many Happy returns, Larry!
Mrs. Doris Katherman and Mrs. Camille Lynn attended the Retired Seniors of Johnson County Volunteers brown bag lunch March 13 at Metcalf South Mall. The program was presented by Don and Gloria Inbody on the Oregon Trail in 1849.
