Mr. and Mrs. Sid Peacocke have returned home from a four-day excursion the week of March 11. They motored through Colorado into New Mexico for a relaxing trip, stopping when they felt like it. Way to go, kids!

Mrs. Betty Hunter and Mr. and Mrs. Rawleigh Zilliox of Lawrence took a trip to Clinton, Mo. on March 18 to visit their sister, Norma Harrison. Then they went to the Persimmon Tree antique mall near Warshaw to browse. They had lunch in Tightwad, Mo., and made a full day of it.

Mr. and Mrs. John Lynn and Travis went to Prairie Home, Mo. the weekend of March 18 to visit Teresa's mother, Iris Kirschman, and other relatives. Iris came back with them to spend the week.

The Monticello United Methodist Women's executive members enjoyed a working breakfast meeting at the hall on March 17. Breakfast was prepared and served by elected leader, Bertha Cameron. Ten members attended.

Mrs. Johnnie Lee Kueker treated Mr. and Mrs. Ron Ashby and Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Kueker to dinner at the Kill Creek Pub and Grill in DeSoto on March 17.

Mrs. Virginia Broom was moved from Overland Park Regional Medical Center on March 19 to the Life Care Center of Grandview for rehabilitation.

Mrs. Jean Hodson, Dr. Bruce and Cathy Hodges, Ashley Hodges and Connie Batchelder all from Monticello United Methodist Church have returned from a 12-day Marantha Tour of the Holy Land. There were 23 persons in the group. They spent several days in Israel, saw the Sea of Galilee, visited the old city of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and the Dead Sea area and the seaport, Haifa. They also visited Cairo, Egypt, saw the pyramids, the Sphinx, and the Old Egyptian Museum. Then, they went to Rome, Italy, saw the Vatican, St. Peters Cathedral, the Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, the Catacombs, and the Coliseum. It was quite a trip, and they are glad to be back.

Ruth Lynn and Camille Lynn attended the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association meeting at Asbury UMC in Overland Park on March 19. The program was a panel discussion concerning "Advocating for permanent C.O.L.A. each year." Panel members were Merle Bolton, Carlton McNairm Marjorie Webb and Dorothy Steele.

Tom and Delores Gilcrease of Texas were visitors at the home of Pastor Randy and Rene Robinson and family the week of March 18 Delores is Rene's mother.

The Monticello UMW needlecraft group met at the hall on March 21. Joining for the day, mainly to quilt and chat, were Ruth Lynn, Jean Hodson, Flossa Barney, Waverly Williams, Dorothy Kincaid, Lula James, Betty Hunter, Carolyn Peacocke, Johnnie Lee Kueker, Maxine Renner, Isabel Golden, Shirley Lucas, Shirley Nichols and Doris Katherman. Jim Raynolds, Sid Peacocke, Art Howell, and Jay Nichols joined us for lunch. We celebrated Jean Hodson's and Jim Raynold's birthdays with ice cream and cake. Grace Reynolds, Pastor Randy Robinson, and Virginia Elliott couldn't join us, but we wish them all a happy birthday and many more! We quilted on the 2001 project quilt.
