Carl E. Goebel, 75, of Kansas City, Kan., died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

The family received family and friends Sunday at Joseph A. Butler and Son Funeral Home, 19th & Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Inurnment will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, Kan. at a later date.

Mr. Goebel was born in Hubbard, Iowa, son of Edward and Marion Randall Goebel. He lived most of his life in Kansas City, Kan. He was an Army Air Corps veteran. Through the years, Mr. Goebel served on the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department for 6 1/2 years, owned Carl's Club at 10th and Central in Kansas City, Kan. and retired as a custodian for the Kansas City, Kan., Board of Education after 21 years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosalie (Schmitz) Goebel, of the home; a son, Gregory Goebel, Marysville, Calif.; three daughters, Karen Trent and her husband, Terry, Edwardsville; Karla Wallace and her husband, Paul, Baldwin City, Kan.; and Denise Breckenridge and her husband, John, Smithville, Mo.; a sister, Carol Smart and her husband, Jim, Edwardsville; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren

The family suggests memorials to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis TN 38105; Leukemia and Lymphoma Society -- Mid-America Chapter, 6811 Shawnee Mission Pkwy., Shawnee Mission KS 66202; or American Lung Association of Kansas, 4300 S.W. Drury Ln., Topeka KS 66604.
