Halloween activities in store

— Bonner Springs will offer a number of Halloween celebrations for little monsters this year:

  • From 6-8 p.m. the Bonner Springs YMCA will host a Boo Bash, featuring a Haunted House tour, games and activities, caramel apples and cider, and candy and prizes.

The event is for children 11 years old and under, but everyone is invited. Tickets are $1, or 15 for $10.

  • From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 28, the Bonner Springs Parks & Recreation Department will host the second annual Halloween Happenings, in Jim's Gym at the Community Center for a pumpkin decorating contest, ghastly games, eerie music, an inflatable bounce house, candy door prizes and a costume contest.

This free event is for ghouls ages 12 and under and parent supervision is required. Children can come in their scariest, spookiest, silliest costumes or come as themselves. Costumes are not required.

Children will receive 10 game tickets when they enter the gym. Each ticket can be used to play games, such as putt-putt golf, milk-bottle blast, ring the bottle, and other favorite carnival games. Everyone is a winner at every game in which a child will receive candy or a small toy.

  • From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Bonner Springs High School gymnasium there will Halloween Booster Bash for all ages, sponsored by the Bonner Springs High School Booster Club. There will games for children, food, and a costume contest. Tickets are 25 cents, or $5 for 25 tickets, and may be purchased at the door.
  • On Halloween day, Bonner Springs Elementary students will march down Oak Street for the annual Halloween parade, an event sponsored by Downtown Bonner Inc.. Students trick-or-treat down the street and the 100 block of the street is blocked off from traffic.
