Speedway to host blood, marrow drive
August 12, 2008
Kansas Speedway will play host to its second annual blood and bone marrow drive - the Spirit of the Heartland 200 - from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the speedway infield in conjunction with the Community Blood Center and the National Marrow Donor Program.
Donors will make five pit stops - the average number of pit stops a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car will make during the Kansas 400 on Sept. 28.
Stop one will be at the information table, where donors will learn what to expect during their time at Kansas Speedway. Stop two will be registration and blood donation/bone marrow testing, followed by a snacks and drinks stop and then the goodie-bag/T-shirt pickup.
Finally donors can stop for a pace vehicle ride around the track.
