Weather permitting, on Monday, Aug. 18, Kansas Highway 32 just west of 121st Street in Bonner Springs will be reduced to one lane in each direction for a railroad crossing repair project.

Since I’ve actually had autistic students recently in my English classroom at Bonner Springs High School, in USD 204, I was a little surprised at the letter in the Chieftain (July 31) chiding us for sending our autistic students to Kansas City.

Across the United States, animal shelters are filled with millions of cats, dogs, kittens and puppies in need of permanent homes. These are beautiful, healthy animals that have been cast away by people who were not willing to make a lifelong commitment and take responsibility for making sure their pets don’t add to the pet overpopulation burden.

The Kansas Kaos improved to 6-0 on the season with a solid victory Saturday night over a very good Iowa Lightning. The Kaos were pressed for the first time all season and made plays when they had to in order to pull out the 40-23 victory.
