A Basehor teen was in fair condition Tuesday at an area hospital. She earlier had been listed in critical condition after falling out of a vehicle Saturday south of Basehor.

According to Kansas Highway Patrol reports, 16-year-old Kali Layne Floyd was a passenger in a vehicle heading east on Kansas Highway 32 at 158th Street, or Leavenworth County Road 2 when, for an unknown reason, she fell out of the vehicle.

Jessica Lynn Brown, 18, Basehor, was the driver of the vehicle, which was a 2001 Ford. Reports did not indicate what a type of vehicle Brown was driving. The accident happened about 8:20 p.m. Saturday.

Floyd is a junior at Basehor-Linwood High School, while Brown graduated from BLHS in May.

According to reports from the school district, Floyd's parents contacted the school to let officials there know that their daughter was in the hospital. An announcement was read Monday to teachers and students Monday as well to inform them. The parents requested that there be no visitors and that they would continue to update the school about her condition, a school official said.

Floyd was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital after the accident.
