Stueckemann helps AF Prep to bowl victory
December 18, 2008
Basehor-Linwood High School graduate and Air Force Academy Prep School football player Andrew Stueckemann recovered from an MCL tear to see limited playing time in the Patriot Bowl on Dec. 6 in Pearland, Texas.
Air Force Prep defeated Southeast Prep in the game, 38-34.
Stueckemann plays middle linebacker for Air Force Academy Prep in Colorado Springs, Colo. The team lost close games to five nationally ranked junior colleges this season and earned a trip to the Patriot Bowl. The victory against Southeast Prep allowed AF Prep to finish its season with a 5-6 record.
Starting at middle linebacker against Independence Community College on Oct. 11, Stueckemann suffered a grade 3 MCL tear in the first quarter. Working through rehab, he was able to rejoin practice the week before the Patriot Bowl and participate in the victory.
Earlier in the season, Stueckemann and Swede Johnson — another 2008 BLHS graduate — played against each other as Butler Community College defeated Air Force, 32-14.
Stueckemann will continue to work on strength and conditioning throughout the year with plans of playing for the Air Force Falcons next year.
Stueckemann is a 2008 BLHS graduate. He was a standout performer for the Bobcats’ football and wrestling teams during his high school career.
