I-435 accident kills two
Head-on collision with semi claims lives of Omaha couple; children survive

An accident on Interstate 435 in Edwardsville claimed the lives of two people on Tuesday night. Daniel Jamela, 37, and his wife, Marigold Jamela, 34, of Omaha, were killed when the 2005 Honda SUV that Daniel was driving southbound on I-435 with their two children, Michael, 8, and Mario, younger than a year old, sitting in back crossed the median and hit nearly head-on a semi truck headed north. The accident was reported at 10:59 p.m.
Each of the children were injured, and the Kansas Highway Patrol report for the accident listed Michael as wearing a seatbelt and Mario seated in a booster seat with a seat belt. They were both taken to a Kansas City hospital. Their parents were taken to the Shawnee County Mortuary in Topeka.
The driver of the semi, Rodger Wilson, 54, Brookfield, Mo., was listed as having a possible injury.
