Curbside recycling under way
June 26, 2008
Deffenbaugh began residential curbside recycling in Bonner Springs this week. Bins can still be picked up at the Bonner Springs City Hall, 205 East Second Street, or at the Community Center, 200 East Third, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A flier containing information about the curbside recycling program will be handed out with each bin.
Deffenbaugh will send one truck to pick up the regular household trash and a separate truck on the same day to pick up only the recycle items for residents who have set out a bin. The additional charge for recycling will be included in the trash portion of your utility bill, whether you recycle or not.
Tree limbs must be shorter than four feet in length to be picked up.
Additionally, the recycling center at the Public Works Department, 12401 Kaw Drive, will remain open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays to accept recyclable materials, including glass, which will not be picked up curbside.
For more information about your household trash or the recycling program, visit bonnersprings.org, select "Municipal Services," then "Trash and Recycling."
Residents may also call the City Clerk's Office at (913) 667-1716 or (913) 667-1720 for information.
