District to receive energy award

Bonner Springs and Edwardsvile schools saved 26 percent o their energy bills in the 42 months since the school district contracted with Energy Education Inc., an energy-conservation consulting firm. Energy Education will present the school district with its Energy Pacesetter Award during the May 5 school board meeting.
The savings for the district amount to a total of $517,961 by Energy Education's estimates.
Jim Hann, a Bonner Springs Elementary fifth-grade teacher, is energy manager for the district.
"These results are only possible with a supportive and dedicated staff, and strong leadership from our energy guru, Jim Hann," said Superintendent Robert Van Maren.

The postal service is cutting back hours at some rural post offices. How often do you go to the post office?
“For my own personal use, I only go a couple times a year to mail gifts, usually around Christmas and family birthdays. At that time I usually buy a couple books of stamps that last for most of the year! For professional use, I go a couple times a month to check our PO Box.”
