Garden club honored for flower show

The Bonner Springs and Santa Fe Trail garden clubs hosted a Near Club Standard Flower Show May 20 at the Bonner Springs Community Center. They had 25 artistic designs and 80 horticulture entries.
Winners of the top awards were: Darrell Donahue, horticultural excellence; Donna Schif, design excellence; and Donna Schneck, educational exhibit.
The National Garden Club honored the Bonner Springs Garden Club by giving it a top national award for last year's flower show and the club's new cookbook.
The club will be celebrating National Garden Club week from June 2 to 7 with a library window display, flower show and mayoral proclamation.

The postal service is cutting back hours at some rural post offices. How often do you go to the post office?
“For my own personal use, I only go a couple times a year to mail gifts, usually around Christmas and family birthdays. At that time I usually buy a couple books of stamps that last for most of the year! For professional use, I go a couple times a month to check our PO Box.”
