BSHS Renaissance Program recognizes 367 students

November 13, 2008

Bonner Springs High School recognized first-quarter Renaissance Program members during an all-school assembly last month.

Based on first-quarter grades, 367 BSHS students or 49 percent of the student body qualified for the program, which was started in August to award good behavior of students. There are two levels of the program. Orange cardholders have met all four qualifying criteria for the program — zero tardies, less than two absences, no discipline referrals and a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Black cardholders must meet three of the qualifications.

Students who qualify for the program are eligible for weekly prize drawings, free admittance to all BSHS qualified activities such as home athletic events, and other school and classroom benefits. Eligibility for the Renaissance Program will be determined at the end of each nine-week grading period.

During the assembly in a prize drawing, Madison Morris won a Garmin GPS Navigation System, Rachel Taylor won a Sony Cyber Shot Digital Camera and Samantha Kiely won a Nintendo Wii game system. All prizes were donated or purchased with funds donated to administer the program.
