KU to honor area seniors

The Kansas University Alumni Association and KU Endowment will honor students from ten Wyandotte County high schools on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
A total of 162 seniors, including 16 from Bonner Springs High School, will be recognized for their academic achievements and named Kansas Honor Scholars at a 7 p.m. program at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
Scholars rank in the top 10 percent of their high school senior classes and are selected regardless of curricula, majors, occupational plans or higher-education goals.
During the ceremony, each student will receive an American Heritage Dictionary in hardcover and CD versions, presented by Joy Maxwell, assistant director of Kansas City programs for the KU Alumni Association.
Bonner Springs High School students to be recognized are: Chance Crawford, Julia Glenn, Sandy Gomez, Brandy Hoover, Anna Hutchison, Meghan Miller, Isaac Mills,
Starian Porchia, Laura Rink, Monica Sorensen, Stefanie Sprenkle, Krystal Stanton, Kristina Tilden, Olivia Walterman, Kaley Withers and Samantha Zook.

“Actually, we’ve spent more time outside lately working hardcore on our backyard doing some major landscaping. Lots of water breaks helped us through it. Since being outside so much, the warm weather doesn’t phase me anymore.”
