Hollis Center plans fall events

The Hollis Renewal Center will play host to several events this fall.
The Hollis/Metropolitan Lutheran Ministries Golf Benefit will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Sunflowers Hills Golf Course. Prizes for the longest drive, closest to the pin, low score and hole in one will be presented. The tournament will be two-person teams, playing best ball around. A light lunch at the course and supper at Hollis after will be provided. The cost is $95 person.
The Hollis Fall Celebration and Chili Fest will be on Oct. 19, at the Hollis center. There will be food, music and a live auction. The cost is $10 per person or $30 for a family.
The Hollis second Annual Hike-a-thon will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Hollis Center. The 5K hike will wind through Hollis trails and will raise money for the capital campaign. The cost to participate is $15 per hiker or $45 per family.

The postal service is cutting back hours at some rural post offices. How often do you go to the post office?
“For my own personal use, I only go a couple times a year to mail gifts, usually around Christmas and family birthdays. At that time I usually buy a couple books of stamps that last for most of the year! For professional use, I go a couple times a month to check our PO Box.”
