BSHS soccer routs Schlagle for second victory of year
April 16, 2009
After a disappointing 1-0 weather-shortened loss against Kansas City Christian on Thursday, April 9, Bonner Springs took out its frustrations on Schlagle on Monday night.
The Bravettes thrashed the Stallions, 10-0.
Bonner Springs scored early and often against the Schlagle team that is in its first year of competition. It was a result that the Bravettes have been familiar with in the past but hope to change in their third year as a program.
If Monday was any indication, the talent pool at BSHS is improving rapidly as the Bravettes punished the Stallions with a variety of players scoring goals. They received a career-high four goals from junior Tessa Seaton on the cold and rainy afternoon.
“We were playing up on offense so we stayed aggressive,” Seaton said. “I got most of my goals on rebounds after my teammates took a good shot and I was able to finish the play.
Alex Argundo picked up where she left off last week. After scoring a late game-winning goal against Ottawa, she added three more goals against Schlagle.
“It was my first hat-trick,” Argundo said. “I don’t get that many chances at that because I play midfield, so it was really exciting. This win gives us confidence, but we know we have some really talented teams coming up (on our schedule).”
Coach Mike Moulin likes what he is seeing out of Argundo and Seaton.
“Alex had a great run tonight,” Moulin said. “(Tessa) was exactly where she was supposed to be at the right time and she put the ball in the back of the net.”
Alexis Clark, Cali Hackney and Yessenia Hernandez each scored a goal to round out the scoring.
Things didn’t turn out so well on Tuesday for BSHS. It lost a 5-0 decision to Kaw Valley League power Lansing. LHS scored all five of its goals in the first half.
The Lions defeated the Bravettes 10-0 last year.
