Adult education volunteers sought
January 8, 2009
An orientation for new Johnson County Adult Education volunteers will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, in room 234 of the Carlsen Center at Johnson County Community College.
Johnson County Adult Education, sponsored by JCCC and Johnson County Library, provides classes and individualized instruction to help undereducated adults improve academic skills. Volunteer tutors are needed to help adult students improve reading, writing, and math skills, prepare for the General Educational Development test, or learn English as a second language. Classes are conducted in nine locations throughout Johnson County. Volunteers tutor for two or three hours one morning or evening each week for a minimum of six months.
Contact Amber Turner, Johnson County Adult Education volunteer coordinator, at (913) 469-7687 for more information.
