St. Mary’s trips BLHS girls at Wellsville Invitational

The Bonner Springs High School girls basketball team’s losing skid reached five games on Tuesday as the Bravettes lost their first-round game of the Wellsville Invitational Tournament to St. Mary’s, 48-26.
Shooting woes continue to plague the Bravettes as they scored just 6 points in the first half and trailed by 16 at intermission.
Bonner Springs was vastly improved during the second half as it played nearly even with St. Mary’s, but too much damage was done early.
Malia Williams led BSHS with a double-double as she scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Lynsey Ostman added 5 points and five rebounds.
BSHS (1-9) next plays Wellsville at 6 p.m. today in the consolation bracket.
Later this week, the Bravettes have two more games. They play at 6 p.m. Friday at Lansing in a Kaw Valley League matchup, and then they close out the Wellsville Invitational on Saturday afternoon. After that they will return to the court at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home against Bishop Ward.

The postal service is cutting back hours at some rural post offices. How often do you go to the post office?
“For my own personal use, I only go a couple times a year to mail gifts, usually around Christmas and family birthdays. At that time I usually buy a couple books of stamps that last for most of the year! For professional use, I go a couple times a month to check our PO Box.”
