Congresswoman’s staff takes tour across state
July 2, 2009
Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins’ staff visited Leavenworth Tuesday, June 23, for a Congress to Kansas mobile office tour. Jenkins' staff members have traveled to communities throughout the 2nd District during the week of June 22 to assist people in those communities with any federal issues. District representative Allan Askew met with Leavenworth community members from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. June 23 in the basement conference room of the Leavenworth County Courthouse.
In a press release, Jenkins said about the event: “From day one, it was my priority to provide the best and most accessible customer service Eastern Kansans have ever seen. This is one more step in that direction. With high gas prices and a tough economy, folks can't always make it to my offices in Pittsburg and Topeka, so we are bringing our offices to their communities. I hope to make it easier for Kansans to have their voices heard and to help them navigate the federal bureaucracy.”
Staff members also went to Osage City, Burlington, Ottawa, Atchison, Columbus, Parsons and Neodesha. Today, they will hit Rossville, Wamego and Manhattan. The mobile tour also stopped Friday, June 26 in Fort Scott, Iola and Chanute.
