KCKCC events to mark Women’s History Month

“Women taking the lead to save our planet” will be recognized in a series of programs celebrating Women’s History Month at Kansas City Kansas Community College in March.
The programs are open to the public without charge. The programs:
Tuesday, March 10 – “Don’t Disrespect My Mama: Women Protecting Mother Earth.” Susan Brown of the Concerned Citizens of Platte County will discuss the battle against the new coal-burning power plants, and KCKCC student Katie Myer will do a dramatic reading of “The Clan of One-Breasted Women.” The program will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Intercultural Center.
Tuesday, March 24 – Women’s History Read-In, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the Intercultural Center.
Thursday, March 26 – “Bring Up Baby: Starting Your Garden.” Katie Wheeler of the Prairie Wise Herbal School and Katherine Kelly of the Kansas City Center for Urban Agriculture will give a presentation designed to empower women to save the earth. The program will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Conference Center.
