Herre’s school-record performance highlights Bonner Springs Invitational
Bonner Springs swimmers played host to the Bonner Springs Invitational April 8 at the District PE Center and did not disappoint the home crowd.
The Bravettes took home third place and were fueled by some wonderful individual performances and overall strong swimming by the team.
Emily Herre’s first-place finish in the 500 freestyle in 6 minutes, 29.35 seconds, broke the former Bonner Springs record and was the highlight of the meet. In that same event, Cheyenne Miller took third and Jordan Merino took eighth.
Miller turned in another top-five finish in the 200 freestyle, placing fourth in 2:29.59.
Herre finished second in the 50 freestyle in 27.87.
Bonner Springs’ other top swimmer, Toni Stock, took first in the 100 butterfly in 1:11.29 and third in the 200 individual medley 2:40.61.
Both Stock and Herre swam legs on the third-place 400 freestyle relay team.
Shawnee Mission East was the meet champion. Lansing placed second.
