Voters support KCK sales tax

April 15, 2010

Unofficial results for the Kansas City, Kan., sales tax election, asking voters to approve a 3/8-cent sales tax increase, are in.

Out of 8,600 total votes cast in Tuesday’s election, 6,022 were in favor of the increase and 2,578 were opposed.

Results won’t be made official until a canvass, where provisional ballots are considered, is conducted at 9 a.m. Friday.

The tax increase won’t affect Bonner Springs or Edwardsville businesses, as it is specific only to Kansas City, Kan.
