County sheriff’s deputy injured, prisoner dead in I-70 accident

A multi-vehicle accident that occurred at about noon today at 110th Street and Interstate 70 left one passenger dead and two others injured.
A Wyandotte County Sheriff’s vehicle was transporting a female inmate when the patrol car was rear ended. Upon begin struck, the deputy’s vehicle struck another vehicle to its front.
The inmate being transported was killed in the accident and the female sheriff’s deputy was injured and transported to an area hospital. Jeffrey Fewell with the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office said the deputy would recovery and would be released from the hospital Friday.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the deputy’s car was also injured and taken to the hospital. Fewell said she also would recover.
The driver of the third vehicle was not injured.
