ACT results in; Bonner students showing improvement

August 19, 2010

ACT test-takers at Bonner Springs High School continue to show improvement, with tests taken in 2010 showing an average composite score of 21.2 out of 36 points possible, according to results released earlier this week.

That’s a slight increase over the 2009 school year’s average composite score of 20.9 out of 36, which was also an increase over the 20.5 average composite score seen in 2008.

And Bonner students this year stacked up well against the national average too, beating the average composite score of 21.0 by 1.2 points. Bonner students, however, scored just below the state average of 22.0.

Over the past two years, BSHS has offered several ways to get students ready for the ACT including, counselor Rebecca Plaschka said, an ACT workshop offered last spring. To keep the improved scores coming, Plaschka said similar ACT workshops would be offered throughout the year. For seniors preparing for the ACT, the workshop will be offered Sept. 15, 22 and 29. For juniors, workshops will be offered Feb. 23, March 2 and March 9 in 2011.
