Mom arrested after driving drunk with her children in the car

A Kansas City, Kan., woman was arrested Sunday after authorities said she was driving drunk, sideswiped another car in Shawnee and later left her children on the side of the road.

An inmate with the Larned State Hospital escaped while in custody of personnel for a court hearing at about 10:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at the Wyandotte County Courthouse.
KCK man sentenced to life in prison for death of Edwardsville infant

Anderson Cheffen, Kansas City, Kan., was sentences in Wyandotte County District Court to life in prison with no chance of parole for 20 years in connection with the June 17, 2009 death of of Kawliga Wiseman, an infant, which occurred at the victim’s home in Edwardsville.
