Barely 24 hours after closing out hard-fought overtime loss to Mill Valley in dramatic fashion, the Bonner Springs boys basketball team lacked the same late-game punch despite earning a 60-49 victory Tuesday against Bishop Ward at Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Archie Sanders received the Bonner Springs community service award and Norman Maier was the Edwardsville winner. A special award was presented to Lois Daly in honor of her late husband, Bob Daly.

To the editor: First, thank you for educating your viewers on the fact that this is the time of year when we celebrate Kansas Day with your “5 Questions” section on page 2 of the Jan. 28 edition. My concern though was that one of your facts was incorrect. The caption under the image of the bison called the mammal of Kansas a “buffalo,” when in fact the state mammal is a bison.
