Jaguars beat Bravettes, return to .500

It wasn't easy, but the Mill Valley girls basketball team has finally returned to the .500 mark this season.
The Jaguars improved to 6-6 overall and 3-2 in the Kaw Valley League with a 57-38 victory Wednesday at home against Bonner Springs.
Mill Valley was last at .500 when it took a 2-2 record into the winter break. The Jaguars lost three straight games in early January before but now have won four of their last five.
Bonner Springs led 16-11 after one quarter, but a 13-6 Jaguar run in the second quarter gave MVHS a 24-22 halftime lead.
A huge second half by Mill Valley proved to be the difference.
Mill Valley scored 21 points in the third quarter and outscored the Bravettes 33-16 in the second half to take control of the game.
Emily Altman led MVHS with 15 points, Whitney Hartman scored 13 and Erin Graviette added 12 in the victory..
Mill Valley next plays at 6 p.m. Friday at Basehor-Linwood.
Bonner Springs fell to 3-11 overall and 2-5 in the KVL. The Bravettes next play at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home against Tonganoxie.
