The Edwardsville Kiwanis Club continued its series of governmental annual reports during its meeting last week at Sisters’ Restaurant. Mayor Clausie Smith reported on highlights and challenges for the city of Bonner Springs during the past year. He said the city was in good financial shape and poised for future growth.

The Knights of Columbus held their district free-throw contest Sunday, Feb. 7, at Clark Middle School. In all, 27 youths competed in age groups from 10 to 14. Winners for the girls were Jordan Sachse, Kylie Farris, Tressa Walker, Danielle Sachse and Madee Walker. Winners for the boys were Luke Murphy, Joshua Robinson, Matt Appl, Avery Fliger and Jimmy Bormlini.

The Midwest chapter of the TEARS Foundation, a non-profit organization that seeks to lift the financial and emotional burden of families who have lost a baby, will present the area’s first Walk and Rock event Saturday, April 10, at Lansing High School, 220 Lion Lane, Lansing. Teams will collect pledges to be donated to the TEARS Foundation and walk around the track in honor of a lost baby.
