Area students earn honors

Nearly 3,000 students earned semester honors from Kansas State University for their academic performance in the fall 2009 semester, while 103 students have received December 2009 graduation honors to recognize outstanding academic performance in their undergraduate careers.
Students earning semester and/or graduation honors receive commendations from their deans, with the honors recorded on their permanent academic records. K-State semester honors are awarded to students who earned a 3.75 grade point average or higher for the semester. Students had to be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours of graded course work.
Bonner Springs students earning fall 2009 semester honors were: Kristen Cecelia Beeves, Taenecia Marie Gaines-Bey, Alec Wray Kirkeminde, Matthew Poje, Victoria Anne Rau, Eric Spiess, Benjamin John Zuk and Katherine Ann Killingsworth.
A Bonner Springs student earning fall 2009 graduation honors was Victoria Anne Rau, cum laude with a bachelor of arts.

The postal service is cutting back hours at some rural post offices. How often do you go to the post office?
“For my own personal use, I only go a couple times a year to mail gifts, usually around Christmas and family birthdays. At that time I usually buy a couple books of stamps that last for most of the year! For professional use, I go a couple times a month to check our PO Box.”
