Kiwanians get update about Bonner government

The Edwardsville Kiwanis Club continued its series of governmental annual reports during its meeting last week at Sisters’ Restaurant. Mayor Clausie Smith reported on highlights and challenges for the city of Bonner Springs during the past year. He said the city was in good financial shape and poised for future growth.
The club will have two fundraising events during the next few weeks. There will be a bowling tournament Saturday, Feb. 14, at Park Lane, 7701 Renner Road, and the annual pancake breakfast will be Saturday, March 20, at Bonner Springs High School.

The postal service is cutting back hours at some rural post offices. How often do you go to the post office?
“For my own personal use, I only go a couple times a year to mail gifts, usually around Christmas and family birthdays. At that time I usually buy a couple books of stamps that last for most of the year! For professional use, I go a couple times a month to check our PO Box.”
