A new business coming to Bonner Springs, Sweet Repeats Consignment Boutique, plans to add its girly touch to the downtown shopping district.

Melissa Adcox, Sweet Repeats owner and Basehor resident, said the business would offer second-hand clothing for busy moms on a budget. While the opening of the store, which will be in the former Miller’s Too location at 201 Oak St., isn’t until April 3, an inventory drive is planned for Saturday, Feb. 20, to stock up on merchandise.

“It’s for moms like me with not a lot of room in our budgets for designer clothing,” she said. “I know I’m a bargain hunter, so I wanted to create a shop to do just that.”

This will be the first business venture for Adcox, but she said she was hopeful people would respond to what she was trying to do. While moms like herself were her inspiration for the store, she said there would be something for every woman, including teens.

The style of the boutique won’t be formal, Adcox said, but there will be plenty of girliness to go around.

“It’ll be a fun, girly atmosphere,” Adcox said of her hopes for the shop.

Adcox said she’s always had an entrepreneurial spirit. As a current Post Office worker in Piper and in previous jobs, she said she’s always had good salesmanship. She said she thought opening her own business would be a good next step.

“I’m excited and a little nervous,” she said. “I’m very enthusiastic because I’ve always wanted to do this.”

The inventory drive will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the boutique’s downtown location. Adcox said the business is currently looking for spring and summer women’s fashion for all ages and sizes. She said designer children’s clothes, as well as accessories and handbags, would also be accepted.

Those bringing items will receive 10 percent off purchases at the shop as well as 40 percent of the sale price of their items.

Adcox said those wishing to bring in items could also call or e-mail her to set up a specific time to stop by the store on the day of the drive.
