Sports in USD 204 targeted as way to bring in more money

Families of athletes in USD 204 may see an increase in fees next school year.

Bonner Springs residents Kelcie Paine, left, and Kimberly Harrison recently were recognized at the Bonner Springs City Council meeting after winning numerous medals at the World Kickboxing Council World Championships Nov. 1-4 in Dublin, Ireland. Paine won gold medals in Adult Korean Traditional Forms and Adult Creative Forms, and she won a bronze medal in Traditional Team Forms. Harrison returned home as one of the event’s most decorated athletes. She captured gold medals in Adult Japanese Traditional Forms and Adult Traditional Weapons, she won the silver medal in Adult Korean Traditional Forms, and she brought home bronze medals for Traditional Team Forms, Women’s 18+ Point Sparring and Women’s Team Point Sparring.
