Bonner Springs residents Kelcie Paine, left, and Kimberly Harrison recently were recognized at the Bonner Springs City Council meeting after winning numerous medals at the World Kickboxing Council World Championships Nov. 1-4 in Dublin, Ireland. Paine won gold medals in Adult Korean Traditional Forms and Adult Creative Forms, and she won a bronze medal in Traditional Team Forms. Harrison returned home as one of the event’s most decorated athletes. She captured gold medals in Adult Japanese Traditional Forms and Adult Traditional Weapons, she won the silver medal in Adult Korean Traditional Forms, and she brought home bronze medals for Traditional Team Forms, Women’s 18+ Point Sparring and Women’s Team Point Sparring. Bonner Springs-Edwardsville USD 204 officials have called off school for Wednesday, Jan. 6, due to wintry weather.

This most recent storm, which rolled into Bonner Springs early afternoon Wednesday, dumped another 4.5 inches of snow on the city according Gil Hoag, National Weather Service observer. Hoag said the winter season snowfall thus far is 20.5 inches.
