Parks and Rec department fills winter fishing void

January 21, 2010

For those looking to fill the fishing void left by the winter season, the Bonner Springs Parks and Recreation department is here to help.

The department will offer a fly tying class from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at the Bonner Springs Community Center. Participants will leave the class with at least four flies they tied themselves and a basic set of fly-tying equipment, including a fly-tying vise, a bobbin, a spool of thread and two packages of hooks.

Cost for the class is $60 for residents and $65 for nonresidents. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 27, and there is a 12-person limit.

For more information, contact recreation coordinator Dustin Care at (913) 422-3404.
