Council chooses bidder for phase 2 of Front Street project
January 25, 2010
The Bonner Springs City Council Monday night awarded a bid of $206,056 to Total Electric Construction for the Front Street phase two transportation enhancement project.
Total Electric came in as the lowest bidder out of 10 bids the city received following a notice to bidders published in the Chieftain Dec. 10.
“All of the bids were very competitive and very tight, which means we had a good (amount) of design drawings,” public works director Kevin Bruemmer said of bids that ranged from Total Electric’s bid amount up to a bid of $239,312 from VF Anderson Builders, out of Peculiar, Mo.
Phase two work will include decorative street lighting, signage and landscaping and will be entirely paid for by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds the city received in 2009. Work on phase two is tentatively scheduled to begin in September 2010, which is the tentative completion date of phase one of the Front Street project.
