Wellsville edges BSHS girls
January 28, 2010
January has been rough for the Bonner Springs girls basketball team, as has the Wellsville Top Gun Tournament.
The Bravettes fell to 0-4 in January and 0-2 in the tournament with a 34-29 loss to Wellsville on Thursday in the tournament consolation semifinals.
The close loss followed a 46-34 setback to Baldwin during Tuesday’s first-round contest.
The game was close throughout, but the Bravettes never were able to seize control. They trailed 6-4 after the first quarter and were down 14-13 at halftime.
The game remained tight throughout the third quarter, and Wellsville led 22-19 entering the final quarter. BSHS had its chances down the stretch but was unable to take control.
Lynsey Ostman led BSHS with 8 points.
The Bravettes (3-7) next play at 6 p.m. Friday at home against Lansing in a Kaw Valley League contest and then play in the seventh-place game of the Top Gun Tournament at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
