Candidates to be featured at Democratic breakfast

The July Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast will meet Saturday, July 17, at Granny’s Chicken Ranch, 1340 Village West Parkway.
The speakers this month will be candidates for the open state representative and county judgeship positions. Also speaking will be Kansas Treasurer Dennis McKinney.
A buffet is available at 8:15 a.m. and the program begins at 9 a.m. Cost for the buffet is $10, which includes tax, service and tip; $7 for students and those with limited income.
All Democrats are welcome to attend. Reservations are requested by Friday, July 16, but not required.
There will be a 20-minute training session immediately after the breakfast meeting at 10:15 a.m. This session is for volunteers who wish to help prepare for the Aug. 3 Democratic primary early returns project. All Democratic Central Committee members and interested Democratic activists are asked to take part in this process.
On Saturday, July 24, the Central Committee will be hosting Precinct Committee Campaign Kick-Off, beginning at 8:30 a.m., at the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge of Kansas, 1234 State Avenue (13th and State).
There will also be a Primary Election Night Watch Party on Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Jalisco’s Restaurant, 5000 State Avenue.

The postal service is cutting back hours at some rural post offices. How often do you go to the post office?
“For my own personal use, I only go a couple times a year to mail gifts, usually around Christmas and family birthdays. At that time I usually buy a couple books of stamps that last for most of the year! For professional use, I go a couple times a month to check our PO Box.”
