July 19, 2010
Longtime Bonner Springs resident Edna Kloepper was killed Friday, July 16 when she was hit by a car while riding her scooter.
Affectionately known as “Scooter Girl” by many in Bonner Springs, Kloepper was often seen riding all over town on her scooter.
The accident occurred at 6:20 p.m. Friday. Kloepper was crossing Insley Street at the Allcutt intersection when a car, driven by Michael Mullens Jr., 18, Bonner Springs, struck her. She was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital where she later died.
Lt. Rick Schubert of the Bonner Springs Police Department said Mullens reported he did not see Kloepper crossing the intersection. The case is being reviewed by the district attorney, who will decided if charges will be filed in the matter.
The funeral for Kloepper will be at noon, Thursday, July 22 at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. A visitation is planned at 10 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will take place in Nortonville, Kloepper’s hometown.
