Occupation: Analyst as an Army contractor for Northrop Grumman Technical Services; Basehor City Council president.

Place of birth: Cleveland, Ohio

Family: My wife, Carol, and I have been married 45 years. We have four children, a son and three daughters, and eight grandchildren, ranging in age from 12 years to 3 months.

Q: When did you move to Basehor and what brought you here?

A: We moved here in 2003 to be close to where our kids are.

Q: What’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?

A: You don’t want to know that one.

Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

A: It was a piece of advice from a guy talking about how to manage. He said that about 90 percent of first-class management is showing up. In other words, the people that work for you have to expect that you’re going to be there, you’re going to be checking, you’re going to be a presence.

Q: What three things would you want people to know about you?

A: I think probably the biggest thing is that, in my approach to the world, honor is first and foremost my underlying, controlling characteristic. Second, it’s family, love of family. And third is duty. Those are my commitments.

Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?

A: I’m not sure that I’ve grown up yet, considering that I’m a full-time student this semester. I may still be growing up.

Q: What’s your ideal vacation spot?

A: My ideal vacation spot is Adare Manor Golf Resort in Limerick, Ireland.

Song: It’s the “Can You Hear the People Sing” from “Les Miserables.”

Color: Purple

Food: Sushi – actually, sashimi. I don’t want all that rice; I just want the fish.
