Live from state: SEATON, BLACKWELL ARE CHAMPIONS
Puckett places third, Hobson finishes fifth
Salina It has been a busy morning at the Bicentennial Center as two more Bonner Springs wrestlers have advanced to the medal rounds.
Bonner Springs sophomore Jonathan Blackwell hugs coach Brandon Jobe after winning the 135-pound state championship.
Aaron Puckett won two straight matches and will become a state medalist for the second straight year at 140 pounds.
Mark Hobson, a Missouri state medalist last year, will be a Kansas medalist at 145 pounds. He also won two straight matches this morning.
Both Puckett and Hobson can place as high as third.
They will join state finalists Caleb Seaton (125 pounds) and Jonathan Blackwell (135 pounds) on the medal stand tonight.
Two more Braves wrestled this morning but were eliminated in their first matches. Josiah Seaton fell to St. James Academy's Reese Cokeley in a 13-0 major decision at 103 pounds and 112-pounder Justus Seaton dropped a 2-1 decision to Tucker Clark of Baldwin.
12:53 P.M. UPDATE
Aaron Puckett won his 140-pound consolation semifinal match against Patrick Weaver of Hugoton, 6-2.
Mark Hobson lost his 145-pound consolation semifinal match against Cody Hill of Hugoton.
Puckett will wrestle for third place and Hobson will try to finish fifth.
4:20 P.M. UPDATE
It's almost time for the championship finals at the Bicentennial Center.
Bonner Springs' Aaron Puckett already finished third at 140 pounds and Mark Hobson was fifth at 145 pounds.
Now it's down to 125-pounder Caleb Seaton and 135-pounder Jonathan Blackwell to try to secure the school's first state championships in wrestling since 2006.
The Braves currently sit in fifth place in the team standings and appear to have a top-five finish locked up.

5:32 P.M. UPDATE
Caleb Seaton is a state champion. He scored a reversal and near fall with about 15 seconds remaining in his match and turned a 4-2 deficit into a 6-4 victory.
He is Bonner Springs' first state champion since 2004.
Jonathan Blackwell is on deck for the 135-pound state finals.
6:08 P.M. UPDATE
Jonathan Blackwell joins Caleb Seaton as state champions. Blackwell, a 135-pounder, earned a 7-5 victory in the finals.
The Braves briefly moved into fourth in the team standings but are now back in fifth. They should conclude the tournament in the top five.
