Bonner Scout to receive Eagle award next month
Brandon Clark of Bonner Springs has met the requirements to receive the Eagle Scout Award.
Brandon will receive the award in a Court of Honor Ceremony at 3 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church.
Brandon, 17, is the son of James and Linda Clark and a senior at Bonner Springs High School. He is a member of Troop No. 149, which meets Tuesday evenings at Bonner Springs United Methodist Church.
In order to have achieved Eagle Scout rank, a scout must complete at least 21 merit badges and plan, develop and lead others in a service project that benefits his church, community or school. Only four percent of Scouts attain Eagle Scout, the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America.
For his Eagle Service Project, Brandon oversaw the makeover of the Bonner Springs High School Braves Football locker room. The interior of the locker room was cleaned and the floors and benches were painted. Brandon organized the donation of supplies and volunteers and arranged for a local artist to paint a Braves mural on the wall.
In addition to Scouts, Brandon has been active in band, football and wrestling. He is also a member of the Bonner Springs City Band, for which he is the student representative.
