Braves’ Coffman takes 7th at KVL Championships
Bonner Springs senior Matt Coffman earned a seventh-place finish at the Kaw Valley League Championships.

Kansas City, Kan. — Bonner Springs senior Matt Coffman earned a seventh-place finish individually and led the Braves to a fourth-place finish in the team standings at the Kaw Valley League Championships Thursday at Pierson Park.
Coffman finished in 18 minutes, 8 seconds. Turner's Russell Brown won in a course-record time of 17:13.
Also for the Braves, Austin Schuler placed 16th in 18:44 and T.J. Kimbrough-French placed 17th in 18:45.
Joe Casteel placed 30th, Thomas Hook was 31st, Zack Quigley finished 34th and Trey Scott was 42nd in 22:23.
Mill Valley won the KVL title with 27 points, Tonganoxie was second with 84, Basehor-Linwood placed third with 93 and BSHS took fourth with 96.
In the girls' competition, Mandy Ballou led Bonner Springs with an 18th-place finish in 19:03.
Also for the Braves, Tessa Newberry finished 34th, Citlally Alvarado was 36th, Akiko Capalla finished 40th and Rachel Barber took 41st.
The BSHS girls placed sixth as a team. Lansing won with 21 points, Mill Valley was second with 76 and Basehor-Linwood finished third with 81.
