Former car wash burns over weekend

A fire at a former car wash caused more than $40,000 in damage over the weekend.
The Bonner Springs Fire Department received a report of the fire at 3:53 a.m. Saturday at the former car was at 13010 Kansas Ave., a building that currently is used as a storage facility.
Crews arrived on the scene at 4:05 a.m. with flames visible from the building, burning out both of the building’s doors. The fire was under control within three minutes.
Lt. Rick Schubert, fire investigator with the Bonner Springs Police Department, said the estimated dollar loss for the building was $40,000, and the damaged contents inside were valued at $1,500. At this time, he said the cause undetermined, and the investigation is ongoing.
