CMS students raise $550 in teacher’s honor

Clark Middle School students Friday gathered to raise money for the American Cancer Society in honor of their former teacher, Deb Loker.
Eighth graders Jose Garcia, Kevin Pichardo and Aaron McGee organized a charity basketball game in honor of Loker, a former eighth grade social studies teacher who recently was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
Students paid $2 for the right to play the faculty, while other students paid $1 to watch the game, which ended in a tie. Teachers — including one male teacher — also dressed up as cheerleaders. The students raised nearly $550.
