City celebrates Drinking Water Week
April 26, 2012
The city of Bonner Springs will celebrate National Drinking Water Week, May 6-12, by reminding area residents how fortunate they are to have safe, clean and affordable water.
The Utilities Department will offer an Open House from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 11, at the Public Works Joint Operation Facility, 12401 Kaw Drive. Hot dogs and snacks will be available from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., along with fresh Bonner Springs water. Take a tour of the facilities to see water well operations, treatment operations and how the city monitors its system using modern technology. The Fire Department’s Aerial Truck also will be on site.
The Bonner Springs Library will have a display during the week of several books available that offer insights into water issues, as well as activity and coloring books available for the kids.
