April 26, 2012

Jan Kobe, Wyandot Center peer support specialist, recently merited national recognition for her use of art to help persons with mental illness on their recovery journeys.

Kobe received honorable mention in the artistic contribution category of the Reintegration Awards presented by The National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare at its mid-April conference in Chicago. The award came with a $5,000 grant that Kobe contributed to Wyandot Center for the arts program that she helped develop.

Kobe has worked at Wyandot Center, Wyandotte County’s designated community mental health center, since 2001. Prior to that, she was an illustrator with Hallmark and lived and worked in the Kansas City area and San Francisco.
