Bobcats place second in season-opening cross-country invitational
Basehor-Linwood’s boys and girls cross-country teams each placed second behind Blue Valley Southwest in the Basehor-Linwood Invitational on Thursday.
Bobcat runners made up five of the top 10 performers in the boys 3.1 mile run, taking spots 5-8, and 10th overall.
Juniors Tanner Tavis (18:35.5), Luke McGown (18:56.6), Johnny Fulkerson (19:01) and Mark Vitt (19:08.6) placed 5-8, respectively, and sophomore Casey Jones (19:47.1) took 10th.
Senior Eli Elliott placed 13th with a 20:37.5 and freshman Bevin Coon placed 16th with a 21:10.2.
For the girls, sophomore Quinnlyn Walcott placed third to lead the way after a 17:01.5 finish. Junior Rebecca Carroll followed closely behind in fifth place (17:24).
Senior Stallbaumer rounded out the top 10 with an 18:12.1 run. Other Bobcat girls runners to score were junior Allie Laney (14th, 18:45), junior Sara Rehm (16th, 19:40.9), freshman Reachel Tindell (17th, 19:57.4) and junior Katie Eberth (19th, 21:13.1).
Basehor-Linwood cross-country returns to competition at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6 in the Sante Fe Trail Invitational.
