2013 BSHS Hall of Fame inductees to be honored
The Bonner Springs Education Foundation and the Bonner Springs High School Alumni Association will have the annual BSHS Hall of Fame induction ceremonies on Jan. 11.
Irene Alden-Harrington, Class of 1919, and Barbara O’Brien, Class of 1972, will be honored in a program between the girls and boys basketball games with Mill Valley at the District P.E. Center.
Alden-Harrington's parents founded the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner, which she and husband Ward Harrington then expanded. O'Brien is the chief curator and director of exhibitions and collections at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Mo.
The BSHS Hall of Fame program began in 2006 and in the past seven years 20 Bonner Springs High School Alumni have been selected for membership. Nominations for the Hall are made on the basis of graduating from BSHS, making a significant contribution to his/her profession or to the Bonner Springs/Edwardsville communities, and being a citizen in good standing.
Following the ceremony guests and all Bonner Braves are invited to the alumni association’s reception in the inductees’ honor in the BSHS Cafeteria. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. and continue until 9:45 p.m. Plaques honoring the Class of 2013 Hall of Fame members will be located on the northeast wall of the District P.E. Center’s lobby area.
